Directions: Two team members will stand or sit back to back with an identical bag of Lego blocks. One team member will describe how they are building a Lego structure and the other team member will attempt to build the identical structure based solely on the communication provided.
Goal: To promote teamwork, communication, and attention to detail
Let’s See it in Action!
Patti and Sharon did an excellent job communicating as they were building. Sharon checked in with Patti often to make sure that their structures were being put together the same way.
Angie provided clear directions and Rob built an exact replica. Now that is communication power!
Here is what each team member had to say about the game:
Sharon: “Sometimes no matter how hard you try to be clear and specific misunderstandings do occur! There is no such thing as too much feedback or collaboration “
Patti: “I liked the fact that Sharon took the time to check in with me throughout the process. Not being able to ask questions as she delivered the instructions resulted in me making certain assumptions during the process. While the end products looked similar, there were some differences from where assumptions were made.”
Rob: “It only took twenty years of being in the navy to finally figure out how to follow directions.”
Angie: “It was harder than I expected to provide the detailed information so that Rob could build accurately.”
Team’s Response: The team found out that even though detailed information was provided there was the possibility to be more specific in the directions provided to replicate the Lego model. There is no such thing as too much detail.
